Sauk Prairie School District Receives Mental Health Grant From WEA Member Benefits Foundation

Madison, WI, September 9, 2025

WEA Member Benefits Foundation, Inc., has awarded a $41,000 unrestricted, multi-year grant to the Sauk Prairie School District to support school-based mental health initiatives.

“This is unbelievable,” Sauk Prairie School District Superintendent Jeff Wright said. “Thank you for noticing our work and for helping us do even more to support students and families by providing these resources.”

Sauk Prairie was selected because of numerous factors, including its strong and visible leadership in mental health programming. The district has positioned itself as a community hub for youth mental health.

“Sauk Prairie has demonstrated a clear commitment to addressing student mental health needs,” WEA Member Benefits Foundation Executive Director Steve Goldberg said. “This grant is intended to help them expand those efforts and build on the strong partnerships they’ve already developed in their community.”

Sauk Prairie is part of the Foundation’s statewide school mental health funding initiative, which has helped participating districts raise more than $1.6 million and expand mental health services for students.

“We’re proud to support Sauk Prairie School District’s innovative approach to student mental health,” WEA Member Benefits CEO Dave Kijek said. “Their leadership in creating beneficial mental health programming serves as a model for districts across Wisconsin, and this grant will help them continue to make a difference in students’ lives.”

To date, the Foundation’s mental health funding initiative includes 20 districts and has helped raise more than $1.6 million. To learn more about the Foundation, visit weafoundation.org.
